Buriram is 393 km northeast of Bangkok — and easier to reach than most people think.
By plane — about 1 hour
The quickest way in: Thai AirAsia flies from Bangkok's Don Mueang (DMK) to Buriram Airport (BFV) twice daily, and the flight takes about an hour. The airport is a small, easy one roughly half an hour north of town; taxis meet arrivals, and we can arrange a pick-up if you let us know your flight.
By train — the romantic option, and almost to our door
Here's our favourite fact: Buriram railway station is on Niwas Road — the same street as the hotel, about 250 metres away. Step off the train, and you can be checking in five minutes later. Trains on the Northeastern (Isan) line leave from Bangkok's Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal and take roughly five to seven hours depending on the service — the express services are comfortable, cheap and a genuinely lovely way to watch Isaan roll past the window.
By bus — the budget option
Coaches run from Bangkok's Mo Chit (Northern) terminal to Buriram throughout the day, taking five to six hours depending on traffic and stops. It's the cheapest way up, and the buses are comfortable enough for the ride.
Driving
The drive from Bangkok takes five to six hours. We have free private parking at the hotel, so the car is safe while you explore town on foot — most of central Buriram, including the night market and the railway station, is walking distance from us.
